We can look at what this man suffered and then read the words of his hymn “whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say, it is well, it is well with my soul”. This man knew what he was writing for he had suffered much.

Jeanne d’Albret
Jeanne d’Albret was born on January 7, 1528, in the small kingdom of Navarre, located between France and Spain. Her parents, especially her mother Queen Marguerite, were supporters of reformed writers, teachers, and theologians. Marguerite also offered shelter for the Huguenots (French Protestants) when the king of France started to persecute them.
Why do we study church history?
We need to study church history to see and remember how God has worked over the ages, and that He did not stop working at the close of the canon; He is still working and in control.
