Erin’s Audio Adventures!
This listen was recommended by our friend @thomasascol in his words he believes everyone should read this and I agree with him. My mind was pretty blown by this listen. Carrie Gress originally set out to write this book thinking Feminism had been hi jacked along the way various bad players resulting in the train wreck we see in modern feminism. As she started to study, she learned that wasn’t the case, early feminist influencers whole goal was the end of woman and her role in society as God had ordained. Women are being erased.
Here is a quote from the book, “Hulking “trans women” trash female athletes. Mothers abort their baby girls. Drag queens perform obscene parodies of women. Females are enslaved to men’s pleasures —or they enslaved themselves. Feminism doesn’t avert these tragedies; it encourages them. The carefree binge of self-absorption has left women exploited, unhappy, dependant on the state, and at war with men. And still feminists cling to their illusions.”
So how did we get here? Where do the earliest feminist influences come from? Who are these women and why are they so bent to “cast off the shackles of yesterday!” (IYKYK). Follow Carrie as she traces the roots of feminism and how we have gotten to where we are today day.
***DISCLAIMER***
Though I highly recommend this book (which to me was more of a research book), I cannot recommend Carrie’s other work without stating that Carrie is a Roman Catholic. As well researched as this book is Carrie’s solution is sorely lacking, she believes that simply doing the opposite of what we have been doing, and a rediscovery of womanhood will rescue us. I believe that that only true repentance and a turning to Christ will turn this ship around. The gospel silence was deafening.
Also, mamas, if you choose to listen to this book, earphones may be a good choice. The content is very heavy for little ears and little hearts to place such a burden upon. Chapter 5 also has some language that I was taken a back by as Carrie quoted early feminist writers. This is well written and definitely needed today.
