Wow, I have been so incredibly convicted and challenged by this book. I had to read it slowly and make many notes to really evaluate my relationship with social media. I think I have been disheartened by all I have been witnessing lately and need to figure out what kind of presence I want to have on social media. Praise the Lord this book came right on time. It is a little book that packs a big punch. Author Jeff Johnson (not to be confused with Jeffery D. Johnson) takes you through multiple Proverbs and wisdom literature as he has you evaluate your heart and motives for using the avenue of social media to engage others. He walks you through 5 guiding questions for effective and sound communication to help you tame the fingers:
- Am I controlled?
- Am I calm?
- Am I careful?
- Am I compassionate?
- Am I conscientious?
If you have social media and the ability to communicate, you need to read this book. I am convinced that if we all implemented the wisdom given in this book as derived from God’s Word, we would see a vastly different Christian (specifically reformed) Community online – one that is set on glorifying God by Taming the Fingers and frequent heart checks.
