Questions Women Asked, Historical Issues, Timeless Answers by Simonetta Carr. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you love history you will too. Spanning from 325-1969 you will find 31 women throughout church history who have asked similar questions to us today. Nothing new under the sun, right? Some of the questions were, “How can I understand Scripture correctly?”, “Will my son be lost?”, “How can I be sure I’m saved?”, “Why am I troubled?”, “Can women write theology?”, “How can I not oppose tyranny?” and “Can true science disagree with the Bible?” Some of these women I knew others were brand new to me. Mrs. Carr is an excellent biographer. I already own some of her children’s biographies, which you should also buy! While the lives of these women are truly fascinating, what you won’t find in many of the chapters is an in-depth answer to the questions, more just the circumstances that brought their questions about. Mrs. Carr has placed questions at the end of each chapter to direct you in searching the Scriptures for yourself to find the answer. She has also placed a “further research” section so you can dive even deeper into the lives of these women. From what I have made out with some of Mrs. Carr’s questions she is very knowledgeable about the culture wars and I even found some of her questions very leading, especially the section on mental illness. I would recommend that you go over the questions with your husband or a wise older woman. Again, I loved this book – agree or disagree with some of the conclusions the women had drawn (which I did), they are truly fascinating women from Church History. Mama’s, it’s a great book for your teen girls too!
