“The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.” Proverbs 14:1

As wise women we desire to build our house. That includes many things like doing good to our husband, loving our children and caring for our home.

The world wants to tell us that being a home maker is of very little importance but God shows us in His word that it is our primary role. If you are single living under your parents roof you can be an amazing support to your mother. If you are living on your own, you are to care for your home and if you are a mother your primary calling is to care for your family.

House cleaning sounds trivial and mundane yet it is a God honouring task that must be done as unto the Lord. And there are ways to make it more efficient and pleasant.

I usually do a big cleaning once a week but have a five minute cleaning plan daily where I involve my children. It is also the plan we use if we have surprise visitors!!! Each child has an area of the house they are responsible for daily. For the bathroom I have cleaning supplies under each sink so they can be freshened up quickly.

Keeping on top of the laundry is a daily task. But if the monster is forgotten it grows very quickly!!! Little children can help by pairing all those single socks (I use the reward system to encourage them). As they grow older they can do their own laundry or in our case the laundry for their room.

Decluttering one area at a time not only helps keep the home organized but is so satisfying. Don’t take on more than you can, even 10 minutes a week to tackle different parts of the home can make a big difference.
