Identify areas of your home that need organizing or declutterring and make a plan!!!

Maybe you are in the busy season of little ones and only have a few minutes at a time. Or maybe you feel overwhelmed about the thought of tackling that cupboard that has gathered all those items you didn’t know what to do with for years!!! Whatever the case decluttering is part of an organized home and it doesn’t have to be an insurmountable mountain. With a little bit of planning you can clean up that odds and ends drawer.

First, write down all the different areas in your home that needs decluttering. Your bedroom closet, pantry, a specific kitchen cupboard, school supplies etc… Then plan to spend 10 minutes, even if it is a couple times a week, on that one area. As I decide what to keep, what to file and what to throw away I try to keep the perspective that some of it may be important, some may be sentimental but all of it will one day burn!

Messes accumulating is a constant battle and the quicker we deal with it the easier it is to keep “stuff” under control.

And of course there has to be balance especially if you, like me, have no problem throwing things out and your spouse is more of a keeper or even collector of items. Submitting to our husband and bringing peace in our home is of much more value than perfect order in our closets.
