Over the years I have tried many different reward “systems” to help encourage my children in love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).
Two examples that I found worked well and I know several moms who have had success with are; the Mom Bucks system and the Penny Reward system.
Mom Bucks.
This is a printable “money” that you keep on hand. You set the payment for certain chores and the cost of the items in the mom “store”. The children collect their Mom Bucks and can go to the store to buy their desired item. It can be small toys, a special drink, the chance of picking the movie for a family movie night or even a date with mom or dad.
With any infraction they may have to pay a fine and lose some of their Mom bucks!

Penny Reward
For this one you will need to collect a jar full of pennies. Each child has a jar with his/her name on it. When ever you notice this child being willing, obedient, kind to others, going the extra mile to complete a task, the child receives a penny. Just like with the Mom Bucks they can use the pennies to “buy” items. The advantage of this system is that you can keep the jars on the windowsill and not have to keep track of the “money”.

This, of course, is balanced with disciplining our children biblically when needed.
