Finally available!! I knew my beloved would write, I just never thought it would be about this topic…eschatology, maybe, a commentary, probably, but not on God vs. Government. Not on Taking a Biblical Stand When Christ & Compliance Collide. And oh how a sound ecclesiology is needed today! I wept as I read this book thankful for the church that God used to mold and shape James into the preacher and under-shepherd he is. One of the most comforting moments in James’ imprisonment was when GCC and TMS came out with their statement of support of him. What care I saw of our Great Shepherd in that moment. I’m not sure we would have had the courage and conviction to stand had not Dr. MacArthur been a leading influence and example in our lives in the last 17 years. I’m so thankful for Nathan Busenitz – one of our pastors when we were at TMS! I praise the Lord for GCC and their courage to stand for our King.
One thing I loved about this book was my James’ transparency. So many people have noted he is a hero but in this book you see him struggle through his weakness. Courage and conviction doesn’t always come without fear and trembling. God’s power is truly perfected in weakness. This is what I love about him, his obedience and submission to Christ even when it is hard. He encourages me to continue to press on in this race everyday. Though James wrote the portion of our story he’d be at a loss without our elders. I’ll never forget the moment Pastor Jake took the pulpit and said if they take him away there would be another, and then another, and then another. Their unwavering commitment to Christ’s headship and lordship is undeniable. I love them all dearly and they make it a joy to submit to them. Their precious wives were willing to sacrifice their husbands in whatever God called them to – without them holding up my arms I would have lost the battle. Thank you GLC for your unwavering commitment to the truth and thank you to each one of you who have shown us just what the universal church is made of: love ❤️
